Tower Gallery

In October 2013 the bell tower of Memorial Community Church was transformed into a temporary exhibition space for the Art Arising show, in partnership with Newham's Rosetta Art Centre.

In 2014 three more exhibitions were held: The Moscow Project, First World War Stories, and Breaking the Chains - an exciting exhibition on the theme of Modern Slavery, featuring a range of challenging art in different media, along with a powerful play, dance and song, and a discussion of the issues with charities working with trafficked women.

Following this success an advisory group of local people has been formed to try and make Tower Gallery a permanent art gallery in Plaistow, in the heart of Newham. It aims to bring challenging and inspiring art to the borough, but also always to work from the grassroots up, involving local people in creating art alongside each exihibition.

2015 has seen the biggest exhibition yet, a group show by first-year painting students from Camberwell Collge of the Arts called Long Live the New Flesh!
