The NOSH pop-up cafe in 2012 was a great success with over 60 customers the last week. It provided ideas for the future, currently realised in the WAF CAF every Tuesday. The NOSH garden  is still growing..... It can always do with more volunteers, so do drop in on a Tuesday from 10 am until 3 pm. If you want to grow your own veg but don't know where to start, this could be for you. And if you have green fingers and want to help out, you'd be very welcome too. Email or ring if you are interested.

The idea is of NOSH was to get people involved in growing, preparing and eating good, inexpensive, healthy food and learning together how we can eat well on a budget.

The idea we tested was that a food growing garden, plus a healthy lunch using some if its produce, will be created using volunteers who will enjoy sharing the results as well as learning new skills that could help them find employment or start their own micro-enterprises. And the food will be so good that people who live and work locally will come and share the lunch, providing income to keep the project going. The pilot project showed a definite demand locally and was a good experience for those involved.

Here are some of the recipes for you to try at home.

  garlic, chilli and coriander bread.

Chickpea, Cucumber, Mint and Yoghurt salad

 Chocolate, Banana and Walnut Loaf

Chicken Satay

Many years ago a weekly lunch for anyone who needed it was run in this venue by local resident Elsie Lewis, who sadly died at the end of 2011. Gifts in her memory have funded the NOSH pilot project.
